Madrid, Capital of Spain

Madrid SpainLocated in the center of the Iberian Peninsula, 650 meters above sea level, we find Madrid, the capital of Spain. It has a population of 3,000,000 inhabitants that, together with the outskirts, amounts to more than 6,000,000.
The capital is a large financial and business center, with a large number of corporate social headquarters.

In their gastronomy, they are cooked, corns, churros (for breakfasts and snacks), squid, potato omelet, patatas bravas and the typical wines of the region.

The offer of hotels in Madrid is quite wide, with more than 70,000 hotel beds available.

The airport of Barajas is located at a distance of 15 kilometers, next to the motorway of Barcelona A-2. It has 4 terminals T1, T2, T3 and T4, which was the last to open. It can be accessed from the airport to the capital, via Line 8 of the Metro (Nuevos Ministerios-Aeropuerto T4).

The climate of Madrid is continental, with very cold winters (temperatures below 0º) and very hot summers (with temperatures above 40º).

It is worth mentioning the feast of San Isidro between 8 and 15 May and the feast of Our Lady of the Almudena on November 9, Official Patroness of the Villa.

Among its Museums and Monuments stand out

The Royal Palace: It is located next to Bailen Street and Plaza de Oriente. It was inaugurated by King Carlos III. Neoclassical in style, it is considered one of the best Palaces in Europe. It has excellent rooms among which excel, the Gardens of Sabatini, Annexes, Campo del Moro and the Hall of the Throne.

Puerta de Alcalá: Monument of reference of the city of Madrid. It is located in the Plaza de la Independencia, at the confluences of Calle Alcalá and Calle Alfonso XII. It was built by Sabatini in 1778, by order of Carlos III.

The Prado Museum located on Paseo del Prado. It is an old palace of neoclassical style work of Juan de Villanueva. Its construction was completed during the reign of Fernando VII. Sample of the flamenco school are El Greco, Tiziano and Murillo.

In the Moncloa Square we find The Arc de la Victoria. This rises on a platform 130 by 42 meters and a height of 39 meters. Dedicated to weapons and letters, it is the work of the architects Modesto Lopez de Otero and Pascual Bravo.

Places of interest to visit in Madrid

Country House: a large forest in the city of pines and cedars. Within it are the Amusement Park and the Zoo of Madrid.

Parque del Retiro: the green lung of the capital with numerous fountains and statues. If we like the sport we can practice jogging, skateboarding, cycling or just walking. There is a small lake where you can take boat trips.

Warner theme park located in the municipality of San Martín de la Vega, 29 kilometers south of the city. It can be reached by car on the A-4 motorway in Andalusia, by train from Madrid-Puerta de Atocha and by bus from Plaza de Legazpi.
