great chinese wallWe took a flight to China to visit the most famous monument in the Asian country: The Great Wall of China.

It is an imposing fortress, built in the V century, to protect the northern part of the Chinese Empire from attacks by nomadic peoples of Mongolia and Manchuria.

The building has been ordered by the Emperor Qin during his dynasty, and has remained there, steadfast through the centuries, but has had to be remodeled at least a chance.

Stretching nearly 7,000 kilometers, connecting to Shanhaiguan in the east, to Jiayuguan in the west, across six provinces in northern China.

Like all important historical monument, deserved the title of World Heritage, and this is achieved in the year 1987, when UNESCO awarded him and two years ago, received also the appointment of one of the Seven Wonders of Modern World.

But The Great Wall of China, hiding behind a sad story, because in the same building, killed more than 10,000 men, and because of this, is also known as “the world’s largest cemetery “.

Although much of it has deteriorated over time, and today no longer fulfills the purpose for which it was built, continues to attract every day hundreds of tourists and remains one of the symbols of China.
