The ruins of Machu Picchu

Machu Picchu (Peru) Declared as one of the new wonders of the world on July 7, 2007, the ruins of Machu Picchu are a real landmark worldwide. The story goes that Machu Picchu, considered a masterpiece of architecture and engineering, was used as a resting place for the first Inca emperor, Pachacuti, between 1438 and 1470. Already on June 24, 1911, an American historian named Hiram Bingham came to the ruins and was marked as the “discoverer”. Bingham, marveling at the site, archaeological work carried out from 1912 to 1915.

However, today it is also necessary to mention the mystery that revolves around Machu Picchu, since more than 45 thousand pieces obtained in the excavations, also made to Huayna Picchu, the mountain backdrop, often appearing in the photographs of complex, arguably the country left and the Peruvian government was never able to recover the material.
